nikkor 18-200 vr amazon
The image quality? Nikon D50 with 18-55 (kit lens) + 55-200VR or Nikkor 18-200mm? The quality …?

… is their main concern. have Today, the goal of the kit, but the thought of dropping $ 700 on Amazon to get the 18-200. The convenience factor of this objective is important, but if that produces images that are below the target of the kit + 55-200 VR, I'll just carry 2 lenses … I have a Lowepro bag with plenty of space. Any person with experience?

I use a D-80 and both the kit lens (18-55mm and 55-200mm – I am your home with the D50 before upgrade). I also have the 55-200mm VR 18-200mm VRII. Never use the kit more objective. I use the 18-200mm VRII of the walk and almost never removed (except for cover, low light levels with the first 50mm 1.4). I carry the 55-200mm VR as a backup. The two VR lenses made of better quality than the kit lenses. Of course, they are also much more expensive. At some point I'll probably invest in 70-300mm VRII (link below) and pay the 55-200 VR. only disadvantage of 18 to 200 VRII is that it is much bigger and heavier than the goal of kit. You should take a look at one in the flesh to see if you want to handle the volume and weight. The 55-200 VR is smaller and lighter. If only 2 lenses and lens have now achieved 18-55 or 55-200 or 18-200 VR VRII function. It is more versatile and heavier, cheaper and lighter. NOTE: Shop With PriceGrabber and audit of the Amazon. The prices of these lenses can vary from a hundred dollars or more, depending on who you buy from (usually Abe's of Maine purchase or photo on 42nd Street the best price, just be careful less expensive units on the gray market). Nikon also has a discount of $ 100.00 on the lenses if you buy a lift with a digital SLR which could be a good time bordering the D50 better. D80s are down to around $ 850.00 and there is always a demand for D50s used to make the trade not to be too extravagant. I sold my D50 used for more than half price of the D80 and sold over $ 900.
